How to use your Designer Series Paper

Ornate Garden SDSP

The other day I showed you a 2-page scrapbook layout showcasing Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper.  Today, I want to share the importance of using your beautiful designer papers and show you just how many projects you can make with one designer paper pack.  In short, I encouraged you to love your beautiful DSP, to chop it and to use it.  Refrain from saving it for “that special occasion” because the truth is every occasion is a special occasion!

So, enjoy making something special with your own two hands — that, it is what makes pretty designer paper special.  Making lovely cards and sending them — that makes it special.  Making gifts and then giving them away — that makes it special.  Making scrapbook pages of treasured memories — that makes it special.  Pretty designer paper cannot be enjoyed when its hidden away in your craft stash.  Live in the moment.  Enjoy making something with it now because every occasion is special.  Then, share your creation to someone special.

So, how far does one paper pack of designer paper go?  Pretty far.  With one package of Ornate Garden Specialty DSP, I made 12 Happy Kits for April.  A Happy Kit includes supplies and instructions for making four card designs plus “extra goodies” to make at least 1-2 more bonus cards of your own creation.

Together, we created at least 60 cards with April’s Happy Kit showcasing Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper.

Plus, I had enough designer paper to make this 2-page scrapbook layout and still have paper left over.

Positive Thoughts & Nature Thoughts Dies

I love botanical images because they can be used year-round.  They are perfect for seasonal cards, vintage designs and replicate the beauty found in nature.

This lovely botanical card is created using Positive Thoughts stamp set, Nature’s Thoughts dies, Seasonal Layers dies, Spring Punch, gold foil cardstock and a piece of Pear Pizzazz paper from the Subtles 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper pack.

For more shine, I used the Golden Glitz Delicata ink on the leafy branch image and sentiment.  Unfortunately, this metallic ink was very popular, sold-out and was retired at the end of the holiday mini catalog sales period.  However, for similar effect you could stamp, the leafy branch and sentiment in Crumb Cake ink, add Clear Wink of Stella to the leafy branch image for a little shimmer and a few rhinestones and pearls and you’ve got a winning design.

Until next time, sending you crafting hugs and inspiration wishes!

Serenity, Harmony and Beauty

Serenity, harmony and beauty in your crafting experience is exactly what you get in the Positive Thoughts Stamp Set.  This stamp set has images and sentiments of affirmation to create a lovely any occasion card for someone you love!

First, I stamped the sentiment in the lower left corner using Memento Jet Black ink.  Next, I stamped the large leafy image in Soft Sea Foam using first and second generation stamping technique.  First generation stamping is applying the inked stamp directly to paper.  Second generation stamping when you stamp-off the ink on scrap paper before applying to the stamped piece — thus producing a lightly-colored stamped image.

I stamped two of the chrysanthemum flower images on scrap paper using Flirty Flamingo ink, and then diecut those stamped images using Nature’s Thoughts Diesa coordinating product available for purchase on February 4th.

Before adhering these flowers, I determined the appropriate placement and stamped the butterfly image using Memento Jet Black ink.  Then I attached the two flowers using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The stamped panel was matted with Basic Black cardstock and a piece of Flirty Flamingo DSP from the Brights 6″x6″ Designer Series Paper pack, and then embellished with Champagne Rhinestones.

Timeless Tropics

timless tropics

Enjoy coloring the retro tropical images in the Timeless Tropical Stamp Set. This card is sure to brighten someone’s day like a warm summer breeze.

This card was created by stamping the large showy hibiscus flower in Soft Suede twice, and then stamping a third flower on scrap paper. I colored the third flower using my Watercolor Pencils and aqua painter, fussy cut the image with my paper snips, and then popped up the image with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The stamped panel was matted in Melon Mambo and Whisper White cardstock and embellished Noble Peacock Rhinestones.

This is a Distinktive stamp set adds depth and dimension to create photo-realistic images with the single step application of an inked stamp to paper.  Can you see the soft lines and dots that add contours and dimension to the hibiscus flower?  These provide clues when coloring — indicating areas to increase the intensity of color.

The Timeless Tropics cling stamp set is just one of many wonderful coordinating products from the Tropic Oasis Suite, found on page 38 of the mini Spring Catalog.  You can bundle and save 10% when you purchase the Timeless Tropics Bundle (Timeless Tropical stamp set and In the Tropics dies) and avoid fussy cutting.  There is also colorful Tropical Oasis designer series paper, Coastal Weave embossing folder, Tropical Oasis Trinkets (bronze metal embellishments, Braided Burlap Trim and Tropical Oasis Memories & More Card Pack.
