Stampin’ Spot Tips and Tricks

stampin spots ideas

If you love card kits or if you are (or have been) a Pumpkin Paper subscriber, then you probably have a collection of Stampin’ Spots.  These are the little 1″ inch pads are supper handy to own!  Here are some fun techniques to prove that some of the best things come in tiny packages.

  • Block Background:  Use the ink spot as a stamp. Grab some fun colors.  Turn over the Stampin’ Spot and apply it directly to the paper for the cutest card on the block.
  • Tasteful Texture: To mimic the wood grain, swipe the Stampin’ Spot across the stamps instead of pressing the stamp to the ink.
  • Layered Colors: Use the Stamparatus and apply the darkest colors around the edges of the image. Stamp. Clean the stamp and apply a lighter color in the center. Stamp again to create the look of a multicolored markered image.
  • Distressed Edging:  Swipe the ink spot over the edge of the cardstock – using the same swiping motion as a sponge or dauber – to define a layer or to create a distressed look.
  • Create a water color palette:  Apply small square of ink on a large acrylic block or window sheet and lift the color using a blender pen or a Clear Wink of Stella brush.

Other great advantages:

  • Fast drying, dye-based ink that coordinates with Stampin’ Up! cardstock, markers, and embellishments
  • The raised pads makes it easy to ink any size of rubber stamp.  To ensure good coverage, simply use a circular motion to tap ink onto the stamp.
  • Travel-sized and compact so that you are always ready to Stamp-on-the-go!
  • Stampin’ Spots are cost effective alternative for new stampers who want to get started with a smaller investment or stampers who may have limited storage space.
  • And, you can make your own small ink pads in the colors you need with Uninked Stampin’ Spots and Classic Stampin’ Ink Refills.  Just add 10-12 drops from the ink refill bottle and it is ready to use.  Similarly, you can re-ink the ink spots that you already own.

Until next time, sending you crafting hugs and inspiration wishes for a spot of color!

Varied Vases

Is the Varied Vases Bundle on your wish list??  It was one of the first stamp sets that I acquired from the new catalog.  Varied Vases Bundle in your kit as its so versatile and comes with a coordinating punch so that you can give your loved ones flowers that will never wither in a vase.

varied vases poppy parade

I made this fun and colorful card using the new Balmy Blue, Blueberry Bushel and Poppy Parade colors with two favorites Early Espresso and Crumb Cake.  The photopolymer stamps make it so easy to line up each stamp.  For this project you’ll need the following pieces of cardstock:  4-1/4″x5-1/2″ Poppy Parade, 3-1/4″x4″ Blueberry Bushel, 2-3/4″x3-1/2″ Very Vanilla and a scrap of Crumb Cake.  Plus you’ll need Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Blueberry Bushel and Poppy Parade inks, and Balmy Blue and Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Markers, a Blender Pen, several clear acrylic blocks and a post-it note for masking.

First, stamp the small vase in Early Espresso ink on the scrap of Crumb Cake cardstock, and punch out using your Vase Builder punch and set aside. Next stamp the scalloped table top using Early Espresso ink on the piece of Very Vanilla, and then stamp the two other vases in Poppy Parade and Blueberry Bushel.  Using a post-it note, cover the vases and scalloped table top, and stamp the sprig of cotton in Crumb Cake, and middle flower in Blueberry Bushel, and the tulips in Poppy Parade.

Using the lid of your Poppy Parade ink pad as a palette, color the tulips using the blender pen.  Draw the tulip stems free hand using fine point end of your Crumb Cake stampin’ write marker.  Next color the middle flowers using the brush end of your Balmy Blue stampin’ write marker.  Using the lid of your Crumb Cake ink pad as a pallet, color the sprig of cotton with your Blender Pen and some Crumb Cake ink.

Stamp your sentiment, attach the punched vase in Early Espresso, and mat your stamped piece.  I just love how the bold, wide mats add that extra pop of color!

We have a fantastic starter kit promotion on at the moment.  If you buy the starter kit for $99 you can choose $125 worth of any goods of your choice.  You may wish to consider adding the Varied Vases Bundle in your kit as its so versatile and comes with a coordinating punch for making lots of wonderful projects.  And the EXTRA GREAT DEAL THIS MONTH is that you can choose 10 free ink pads in any color family to arrive with your starter kit, yes I said FREE!  That is an extra value of $80 — doubling the value of your starter kit.  Plus, your starter kit will ship for free!

Lots of Happy in Tempting Turquoise

The other day, I shared with you three cards that I designed using the components from the all-inclusive Lots of Happy Card Kit.  Today, I’m going to show you how I changed my card design using the full-set of 12 watercolor pencils and my Blender Pens.

And next I added some Lemon-Lime twist for another pop of color.

Tip:  I used a straight-edged ruler and my Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker to add some thin black lines to soften the bold black and white stripe.

Perennial Birthday

Who says you can only celebrate birthdays once a year? There are dozens of them—as many as you know people. And the Perennial Birthday stamp set will help you to stay in party-mode all year long!  It coordinates with a Perennial Birthday Project Kit to create 16 cards – 4 of four designs and to customize a storage box with 12-dividers for monthly birthday reminders so that you’ll never forget another birthday.

Here is a darling card that I made at a recent Inky Angels demonstrator meeting.  It is just so sweet!

perennial birthday 1

The Layering Ovals Framelits were used to die cut the largest scallop oval from Calyspo Coral cardstock and largest oval from Whisper White cardstock.  We randomly stamped flowers from the Perennial Birthday stamp set on the Whisper White oval piece using Basic Black Archival Ink, and then used sponge daubers to color in the large flowers in Calypso Coral and Bermuda Bay.  Stampin’ Write Markers in Bermuda Bay and Old Olve were used to color the leaves and the small blue flowers.  The background piece was created by dry embossing Bermuda Bay cardstock using the Layered Leaves embossing folder. The sentiment was cut from scraps of paper and the card was assembled using Snail adhesive.  The ribbon embellishment case tied using the gorgeous shimmery ribbon pack from the Sale-a-Bration brochure.
