Storage by Stampin’ Up!

storage by stampin up

Your space. Your way.  That’s the tagline for the new storage system by Stampin’ Up!

There are many organization options on the market, but these are customized for our new ink pads!  And whether you own 5 ink pads or the whole collection of exclusive Stampin’ Up colors, you can customize the cubes to fit your workspace!  Yes, this new sleek, space-saving, modular storage system is completely customizable to meet your needs, to organize your craft room and to make your creative time more enjoyable because everything is organized and within reach!

While we anticipated crafters would go crazy over this fabulous system, the debut orders surpassed our forecasts and quickly sold out.  These amazing storage solutions are back in stock and available to help you revamp your craft space.

Here’s the answers all your questions about these units!

Will old-design Stampin’ Pads fit in the Ink Pad & Marker Storage Trays?

The Ink Pad & Marker Storage Trays are perfect for storing our new-design flat Stampin’ Pads only. I recommend using the Open Storage Cube to store the older style inkpads and our specialty pads like Memento, Stazon and Spectra inkpads and the new cleaning pad.

How high can I stack storage trays?

At the Home Office, they stacked 50 storage trays without any issues, BUT it is not recommended. While our Storage by Stampin’ Up! products are sturdy, the higher you stack them, the less stable they will become. Use your discretion when stacking.

Can I mount my Storage by Stampin’ Up! products on the wall?

Our modular storage products are designed to sit on a table (or similar flat surface). Drilling holes in them is not recommended. If you want them on a wall, consider a flush-mount box shelf that they can sit upon, and make sure it is tightly anchored to the wall.

How should I use the Open Storage Cube?

The Open Storage Cube can be used to hold any miscellaneous items like ribbon, embellishments, and your old-style inkpads. Three of the half-size wood-mount empty stamp cases fit in one Open Cube and can divide it conveniently, too.  Tip:  insert a piece of Styrofoam packaging to create a stopper to keep your ribbons from rolling out!

Can I mix and match Storage by Stampin’ Up! products?

Yes! Our Storage by Stampin’ Up! products are modular and designed with customization in mind. Whether your space is long and low or tall and skinny, the cubes will configure to fit your space.

Do I need a Storage Lid for each 5-tray stack?

No. The Storage Lid covers the top of Ink Pad & Marker Storage Trays, Stampin’ Blends Storage Trays, and Open Storage Cubes, so you need only one per storage “tower.”

Are Storage by Stampin’ Up! products freestanding or stacked?

Both. We designed it to be freestanding and stackable, so you can customize your crafting space to work best for your personalized creative needs. Each “tower” will be a separate unit that you can cap with a topper and add the silicone feet to the bottom, once you have decided exactly how you want to arrange your space.

Will there be expansions to the Storage by Stampin’ Up! product line in the future?

Like all of our product offerings, we hope Storage by Stampin’ Up! will be successful and expand, but there is no news to share at this point.

How many Stampin’ Ink Refills can I store in the Storage Topper?

You can store up to 20 Stampin’ Ink Refills (or other small items like embossing powders, sponges, adhesives or embellishments) in the Storage Topper. I keep all my adhesives in two toppers.

Are inkpads difficult to remove from Ink Pad & Marker Storage Trays?

No. When you insert an inkpad into a storage tray, a small portion of the inkpad will stick out for easy access. Same for the markers—there is plenty of space to grip them to pull out.  In fact, you can store two Stampin’ Write markers next to your inkpads.

Can I buy single Ink Pad & Marker Storage Trays and/or Stampin’ Blends Storage Trays?

No. Each package contains a set of five white plastic trays (space for a total of 25 Blends).  This modular system provides room to grow and change as your needs change!

What material do you use to make Storage by Stampin’ Up! products?

Our modular storage products are made with a versatile white, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) plastic, which is a lightweight and durable material. It is wipeable if it needs cleaning or dusting, too.

How do the silicone feet work?

To protect your surface and prevent slipping, we have included peel-and-stick silicone feet with the cubes. Save any extras after you have your set up in place, in case you decide to rearrange or add more modules later.  Also, the feet come in two different heights.  When you apply the feet, the thicker ones go toward the front of the unit, over the circles with the plus marks.

Storage Pieces now available:

The module configuration I want is a lot of money. What can I do?

Recommend signing up as a demonstrator.  You can order storage cubes in your $99 Starter Kit (unlike most direct sales companies, you choose the ENTIRE contents of your kit!).  And, everything your order after that, you will receive a 20% discount.  You can drop at any time and you never have to host parties or hold classes – unless you want to!  Sign up for the Crafting Hugs team and start getting your demonstrator discount immediately!

  • Each unit of Ink Pad & Marker Storage Trays holds FIVE (new style) Classic Ink Pads and Stampin’ Write Markers. The old style ink pads and specialty pads fit in the Open Storage Cubes.
  • Each unit of the Stampin’ Blends Storage Trays holds THIRTY Stampin’ Blends Markers.
  • All units are open on top so you can choose which kind of topper you want for them.
  • Units fit together and stack. They do not snap together, thus avoiding the problem of plastic pieces snapping off.
  • Use the foam packaging from shipment as a stopper to keep rolls of ribbon from falling out of the Open Storage Cube.
  • These are packed very well, be careful not to throw away the little package of silicon feet!

Until next time, sending you crafting hugs and inspiration wishes for storage solutions!

Stampin’ Blends

stampin blends markers

If you love coloring, Stampin’ Blends are a wise investment — for both beginner and avid crafters.  Create an artist-quality coloring by saturating your image with solid color is easy and flawless — without the streaks from other markers.  And, create by blending and shading like an accomplished artist.  These high-quality, dual-tip markers will open a whole new world of coloring creativity in 32 of the exclusive Stampin’ Up colors!

Each color comes in 2 shades — light and dark — to give you the best blending experience out there.   Stampin’ Blends can be purchased individually for $4.50/each, or as a combo for $9 with both light and dark colored inks.  They are not refillable, which is why their price point is lower than other alcohol markers on the market.

Stampin’ Blends are fairly easy to use for coloring and shading.  Coloring is simply saturating the area with one color.  Shading is layering your lightest color first, strategically layering your darker colors next, and then blending the hard edge with lightest color or color lifter.  Here are some coloring and shading tips.

  1. Stampin’ Blends work best with coloring on wet color. Starting with your lightest color, fill in the whole area adding a solid layer of color. While the paper is still “wet”, add a layer of darker colors for shading.
  2. To blend, color in small circles. You will be applying more color (or “wetness”) making it easier to get more even, blended look between the lighter and darker color.  The trick to blending is to blend lighter color on wet darker color.
  3. Leave some areas un-colored for natural highlights.
  4. In the beginning, it is best to only work with two colors at a time. Using the lighter color to blend into the darker color.
  5. Experiment by blending colors with similar hues to create different colors.
  6. As you advance with confidence, you will be able to blend with three or more colors. Start with coloring from your lightest color to your darker color, and reverse the process for blending.  The trick is always the same, coloring on wet color.

a good man bingo card

  1. Color on Whisper White cardstock or Very Vanilla cardstock. The smooth paper finish works best for coloring with alcohol markers and preserves the tips of your markers.
  2. Stamp your line art image using Memento Tuxedo Black ink or Classic Ink Pad.  Recommend stamping using your Stamparatus to get a solid black line image.  Plus, you can re-stamp image after coloring to “sharpen” the line art image.
  3. If you are using different inks and paper products, it may be necessary to heat set your stamped image prior to coloring with Stampin’ Blends. Test the paper, ink and Stampin Blends, then apply color close to the line but not color over it to minimize blurring the line art of the stamped image.
  4. Protect your work surface because the alcohol-based ink will “bleed through” the cardstock. Recommend coloring your project on a piece of grid paper.
  5. When finished coloring and blending, mat your colored art piece to hide the backside so that the “bleed through” will not be seen.
  6. Stampin’ Blends can be used with other mediums like colored pencils and water coloring.

storage by stampin up

Stampin’ UP! has created fantastic storage options for the Stampin Blends.  The Stampin’ Blends storage trays ($14) come with five white plastic storage trays, each holding six markers.  So, one set of storage trays hold 30 alcohol markers.  When first introduced, all of the Storage by Stampin’ Up solutions sold out quickly.  With new inventory available in July, you’ll want to be prepared with your on-line order.

Until next time, sending you crafting hugs and inspiration wishes!

New 3-D Embossing Plate

magnolia 3D embossing folder

Create projects using the new Magnolia 3D Embossing Folder.  It’s easy to make a great impression! Just place flat cardstock in this embossing folder, run it through a die-cutting and embossing machine, and out comes cardstock with two big beautiful magnolia embossed images.  Our new 3D embossing folders take embossing to the next level, with deeper, more detailed impressions than standard embossing folders—great for card fronts and accents.  Here is a close up of those two big beautiful magnolias.

magnolia 3D embossing folder catalog

The new catalog also features a new type of 3D Embossing Folder, which is much thinner than the older Dynamic folders.  For best results, use the 3D Embossing Folder Plate with all of Stampin’ Up!’s 3D Embossing Folders; it adds a little more oomph to your die sandwich to make those 3D designs pop.

3D Embossing Folder

The new plate makes up the difference in thickness between the old-style Dynamic Folders and the new-style 3D Folders. The 3D Embossing Folder Plate replaces the Standard Cutting Pads in your 3D embossing folder sandwich for continued high-quality emboss results.

To create your emboss sandwich:

  • Use a die-cutting & embossing machine platform as a base; no matter which machine you’re using, use the standard platform which comes with your machine.
  • Use the 3D Embossing Folder with your paper in the middle.
  • Then use the 3D Embossing Folder Plate on top.
  • Given the differences in machines and platforms, you may wish to add a paper shim to get your desired embossing results.  Start with one paper shim and add more sheets as necessary to get the desire results taking care not to damage your embossing machine.
  • Note:  Remember to spritz your paper with water before embossing.  The water softens and relaxes the paper fibers to maximize your embossed impressions.

If after reviewing the new 2019-2020 Annual Catalog, and you have a wish list of $100 or more, please consider signing up for your NO STRINGS 20% discount on all of those great products.  Click here for all the details and don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions!  I’ll even walk you through the sign up process over the phone!  How easy is that!

Saying Goodbye to Lovely as a Tree

lovely as a tree example 1As they say…”all good things must come to an end”. The time has come for Stampin’ Up! to retire their oldest stamp set, the iconic Lovely As A Tree stamp set first introducted in 2001.

It was the first stamp set I purchased and I have used it a lot! In fact, I have two stamp sets – the original with its stained, rock hard rubber that is seasoned with lots of love and a newer one that is also showing signs of lots of love.

In retiring Lovely as a Tree, Stampin’ Up made way for more wonderful new products celebrating nature.  And, you are going to love these stamp sets just as much!

rooted in nature samples

Both the Rooted in Nature stamp set and the Winter Woods stamp set have the same timeless images for creating nature scenes.  They are perfect for a variety of techniques and projects — providing you with more creative options for any season or occasion.  Simply click on the links above to purchase these stamps with lovely tree images.

Pop of petals samples

Hello my crafty friends.  If you’re looking to create beautiful projects with pops of color in a plethora of colors, please consider the Pop of Petals bundle.

pop of petals bundle

I love bundles with stamps and coordinating punches.  When combined with different color inks, the punch adds that extra wow factor.  Here is a design I created for a recent card swap using Pop of Petals Bundle.

pop of petals onstage

This color combination is so cheerful:  Highland Heather, Pineapple Punch, Grapefruit Grove, Coastal Cabana and Pear Pizzazz.  And, the sentiment stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink from Butterfly Gala stamp set just pops against the Whisper White cardstock. The flowers are popped up with dimensionals.

Save 10% on this bundle when ordering Pop of Petals Bundle before June 2nd.  While the Pop of Petals stamp set and Four-Petal Flower Punch carryover into the new catalog, the bundle pricing does not!  If you are interested in any of these products, simply click on the links provided to visit my on-line store.

PRICE CHANGE ALERT:  Now through June 2nd, you can save 10% by ordering the Sea of Textures Bundle.  While both the Sea of Textures stamp set and Under the Sea Framelit dies will both carryover into the new catalog, the bundle pricing does not carryover And, the coordinating Tranquil Textures DSP will retire, too.  The Tranquil Textures DSP with its delightful textural designs for backgrounds and layering is perfect for pairing with both Sea of Textures stamp set, but also Magical Mermaid stamp set!
