Game On for Great Masculine Cards

game on Andrew and Henry cards

Hello Crafting Hugs Friends!  You will have so much fun creating great masculine cards using Games On stamp set from Stampin’ Up.  It has classic game images – dice, playing cards and chess pieces.  While not classified as a distinktive stamp, it has the subtle shaping clues which makes blending or coloring a breeze – especially with the Blender Pens.

I love watercoloring with Blender PensThese dual-tipped pens are filled with specialized solution to blend ink easily.  Here, I just blended the ink “left” on the paper from the stamped image.  You can also lift ink from an acryllic block, the lid of an inkpad or the tip of a watercolor pencil.  After coloring, clean your Blender Pens with a few scribbles on scrap paper.  Quick and easy!

These cards are very similar; I just used different pieces of Country Club DSP (retired) for a pop of color.  For the dark blue card, I fussy cut the chess pieces and popped them up with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the second card, I fussy cut the chess pieces and the dice, and I used a sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set.  Now, I have two great masculine cards in my stash of ready-made cards!

Do you have a stash of ready-made cards?  Please leave a comment and let me know how you store them.

Until next time, sending you crafting hugs and inspiration wishes for great masculine cards!

Happy 4th of July

fourth of july card

Celebrations aside, Independence Day is an important time to reflect on our country’s unique history from its people, its political leaders and its revolutionary thinkers alike.  Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are why we are so lucky to live in “The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.”  Thank you to our military, first responders and essential workers!

I hope that you are celebrating with family and friends a delicious barbecue with picnic appetizers, juicy burgers, and festive desserts — until the fireworks light up the summer night sky.   Enjoy and be safe!  I love you and appreciate you for supporting my small business!

Wishing you a fabulous Fourth of July holiday.

Happy Father’s Day

rooted in nature fathers day card

I older I get, the more I realize I was so bless to have a father like my Dad.  My Dad taught me many life lessons of the importance of family .  He also taught me to enjoy and to appreciate the beauty found in nature, and shared his passion for being outdoors, including camping and hiking.

Naturally, I took inspiration from his love for the outdoors to create his Father’s Day card using the beautiful stamped imagery from Rooted In Nature stamp set, the stately fir tree die cuts from Majestic Mountain dies, the sentiment from Well Said stamp set, some punched accents using the Sprig punch and texture using the Woodland embossing folder.  The color combination in Very Vanilla, Crumbcake, Garden Green and Soft Suede is very appropriate for the outdoors and for a masculine card.

I hope that you are celebrating the good men in your life today.  Until next time, sending you crafting hugs and inspiration wishes!

Take a Chance, It’s “Game On”

Game On with In Good Taste DSP

Hello Crafting Hugs Friends.  Everyone knows how much I love beautiful line art and that I love to collect masculine stamp sets.  Which is why it should not be as surprise that the Game On stamp set was on my “MUST HAVE” list.

Game On catalog image

For my card, I used a 4×5.25″ piece of photographic wood paneling from In Good Taste DSP, matted with Soft Suede cardstock.  The imagery was stamped with Early Espresso Ink on Very Vanilla cardstock.  Since this is a distinktive stamp set, a blender pen was used to watercolor the images by blending the Early Espresso ink from the stamped image itself.  Then, I fussy cut the images and attached them to the card front with NEW Stampin’ Seal and Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The sentiment was “inked” using my Early Espresso Marker Pen to just select the word “Lucky” to stamp and was die cut using the smallest rectangle die in the Stitched So Sweetly die set.

Game On close up of cardfront

For the background and inside the card, I stamped images from Game On and Beauty Abounds (splatters) in Early Espresso.

To brighten this monochromatic card front, I added some gold Metallic Pearls and some Wink of Stella on the light areas of the chess pieces and dices, and to the top left corner of each of the five playing cards.

The classic game imagery makes it easy to create handsome cards and scrapbook pages.  In the craft room, it is simply “fun & games” to play with the Game On stamp set.  So, you will probably see many more blog posts with this stamp set.

Until next time, sending you crafting hugs and inspiration wishes!

Father’s Day is just around the corner!

rooted in nature fathers day card

Father’s Day is just around the corner and it is so important to recognize the important men in our lives.  Here is a masculine card that features Rooted in Nature stamp set, Nature’s Roots dies, Majestic Mountain dies and Well Said stamp set.

To create the card front, I layered embossed Crumbcake cardstock with Soft Suede cardstock.  So that embossed image of retired Woodland Embossing Folder popped, I sponged Soft Suede ink over the embossed image.  While the ink dried on the embossed piece, I die cut the trees images from Majestic Mountain dies cut in Garden Green cardstock.

To create a focal point, I choose to create a cluster of die cut and punched images.  Using the Rooted in Nature stamp set, I stamped the tree rings and small branch in Soft Suede ink on Very Vanilla cardstock, and then stamped the three-leaf image with Garden Green ink on Very Vanilla.  These stamp images were die cut using Nature’s Root dies and my die cutting machine.  To fill in the cluster, I used the Spring Punch and Soft Suede cardstock.  The sentiment was created by stamping Well Said stamp set using Soft Suede ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and using my paper snips to create the blocks of words.

The card was assembled using Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots and Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  Fortunately, Stampin’ Up offers a variety of adhesives in order to get the very best results while crafting.

Highland Heather Blossoms in Bloom

blossoms in Bloom highland heather

I love the Blossoms in Bloom, it’s another distinktive stamp set in the new 2020-2021 Annual Catalog,  because I can achieve a professional watercolor look with just stamps, ink and paper.  It is so easy to create depth by stamping the large flower image in Highland Heather Ink, the smaller blooms in Pacific Point ink and the tiny blooms in Gorgeous Grape ink.  The flower centers were stamped in Daffodil Delight ink.  Using the small and large leaf images, I was able to add leaves in Granny Apple Green ink poking out behind the blooms.  This is a simple card that anyone can make and one that anyone would love to receive.Blossoms in Bloom catalog image

The sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set was stamped in Pacific Point ink on label die cut from Stitched So Sweetly dies.  Itty Bitty Greetings has stamped images for any occasion.  And, the Stitched So Sweetly dies lets me create beautiful tags and frames in a variety of sizes to create a focal point with sentiment.

Our totally transparent photopolymer stamps make it so easy to perfectly place each image and since our stamps cling like crazy to our clear blocks, I didn’t have to worry about stamps slipping off the blocks!

We are in unprecedented times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Unfortunately, some products will not be available at the launch of the catalog, such as our new cutting and embossing machines.   Some products will sell out quickly because many of our suppliers, like those companies that make our inkpad cases and ink refill bottles, are busy making plastic medical supplies.  To comply with federal and local guidance for the protection of workers, Stampin’ Up warehouse has reduced the number of workers per work shift while adding additional work shifts.  Unfortunately, shipments are running on a 5+ day delay from the warehouse.  If you really, really want to receive your order quickly, please choose “express shipping” at checkout with the understanding that there may be shipping delays by UPS, who is federally mandated to prioritize shipments of critical supplies first.  These are definitely unusual times, so thank you in advance for your understanding and patience.

PLACING AN ORDER TODAY?  If you are placing an order for $150 or more, I want you to enjoy all of the Host Rewards you have earned.  If your order is less than $150, I’d love for you please add this Host Code –  – when prompted. Thank you!

Stampin’ Spot Tips and Tricks

stampin spots ideas

If you love card kits or if you are (or have been) a Pumpkin Paper subscriber, then you probably have a collection of Stampin’ Spots.  These are the little 1″ inch pads are supper handy to own!  Here are some fun techniques to prove that some of the best things come in tiny packages.

  • Block Background:  Use the ink spot as a stamp. Grab some fun colors.  Turn over the Stampin’ Spot and apply it directly to the paper for the cutest card on the block.
  • Tasteful Texture: To mimic the wood grain, swipe the Stampin’ Spot across the stamps instead of pressing the stamp to the ink.
  • Layered Colors: Use the Stamparatus and apply the darkest colors around the edges of the image. Stamp. Clean the stamp and apply a lighter color in the center. Stamp again to create the look of a multicolored markered image.
  • Distressed Edging:  Swipe the ink spot over the edge of the cardstock – using the same swiping motion as a sponge or dauber – to define a layer or to create a distressed look.
  • Create a water color palette:  Apply small square of ink on a large acrylic block or window sheet and lift the color using a blender pen or a Clear Wink of Stella brush.

Other great advantages:

  • Fast drying, dye-based ink that coordinates with Stampin’ Up! cardstock, markers, and embellishments
  • The raised pads makes it easy to ink any size of rubber stamp.  To ensure good coverage, simply use a circular motion to tap ink onto the stamp.
  • Travel-sized and compact so that you are always ready to Stamp-on-the-go!
  • Stampin’ Spots are cost effective alternative for new stampers who want to get started with a smaller investment or stampers who may have limited storage space.
  • And, you can make your own small ink pads in the colors you need with Uninked Stampin’ Spots and Classic Stampin’ Ink Refills.  Just add 10-12 drops from the ink refill bottle and it is ready to use.  Similarly, you can re-ink the ink spots that you already own.

Until next time, sending you crafting hugs and inspiration wishes for a spot of color!

Introducing Cinnamon Cider, a new In Color for 2020-2022

in color cinnamon cider

I love having on-trend new In Colors for their exciting new color combinations.  In Colors are always on-trend, meaning that you will see them in latest fashions and home decor designs.  These five new In Colors for 2020-2022 work extremely well together and coordinate wonderfully with Stampin’ Up exclusive 40 core colors.  You can trust that every possible color combination imaginable will work perfectly together.

in color 2020 2022

So, say hello to the new 2020-2022 In Color called Cinnamon Cider.  This new, in-trend color is a warm golden brown — like the crust of a freshly baked loaf of cinnamon bread.  This is a color that we currently do not have in our color family offering; so, you are really going to enjoy crafting with it!

This card showcases many, many new products.  It is decorated using a card from the Flowers for Every Season Memories & More card pack, that is matted with another new In Color called Just Jade and that is embellished with a new Chevron Twill Ribbon in Bubblebee.  This card showcases a hint of another new In Colors called Bumblebee and Misty Moonlight.  The sentiment is from a brand new stamp set called Tasteful Touches.  The sentiment is punched from one of my favorite punches,  These products will be available for purchase June 3rd.

Did you notice how the sentiment was punched and matted?  There are lots of creative uses for your punches.  Here, I simply punched sentiment piece in Whisper White, and then punched two additional pieces in Just Jade cardstock using the Tailored Tag Punch.  By cutting, one punch lengthwise and the other punch widthwise, I could attach the pieces underneath the Whisper White sentiment punch to create a mat.  This is a very simple yet effective technique to use your punches.

Stay tuned for more sneak peeks.  Until next time, sending you crafting hugs and inspiration wishes.
